Glossary

Experimentation

  • MET: Multi-environment trials for testing and analyzing performance under varying conditions.
  • Trial: A single experiment iteration.
  • Plot: A physical part of a field on which a treatment is applied.
  • Notation: Record specific trial or plot observations.
  • Notebook: Set of variables and their scope to get data for.
  • Task: A specific activity or operation within a trial.
  • ExperimentalDesign: The layout and parameters for running the experiment.
  • Factor: Can be Genotypes, Products or others (such as irrigation, engine used …).
  • Modality: A specific factor (Genotype A or Product X) or mix of specific factors with potential specificities (such as lot for genotypes or dosage for product).
  • Treatment: Combination of modalities (Genotype A - lot 1 x Product X - dosage Y).
  • Conclusion: Summary of insights drawn from a trial.
  • Label: Metadata tagging for plot recognition.
  • Partner: Stakeholders or collaborators in an experiment.
